The Florida Division of Emergency Management urges Florida’s residents and visitors to use caution this week along Florida’s Atlantic Coast lingering effects from Hurricane Sandy generate a high risk of rip currents from Nassau south to Miami-Dade County. High winds will also generate a high risk of rip currents from Pinellas to Monroe County and a moderate risk from Franklin County west to Escambia on the Gulf Coast.

“Lingering effects from Hurricane Sandy bring elevated risks of rip currents along many of Florida’s beaches this week,” said Amy Godsey, State Meteorologist for the Florida Division of Emergency Management. “It is important for all beachgoers to be aware of the rip current outlook for their area and always check the beach warning flags before entering the water.”
