NOAA shared Tropical Storm ISAAC PhotoTropical Storm Isaac is passing south of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, located at midday about 200 miles south of San Juan.

Its westward motion is expected to become west-northwest this afternoon, and continue into Saturday. On that track, the center should be near the coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Friday.
Maximum sustained winds are 40 mph. Strengthening is forecast, and Isaac could become a hurricane as it nears Hispaniola.

Hurricane and Tropical Storm Watches and Warnings remain in effect for many islands of the central and northeastern Caribbean region. It remains too early to determine what, if any, impact Issac might have be on Florida.
