Ernesto Heading for Yucatan Landfall

Ernesto Heading for Yucatan LandfallTropical Storm Ernesto continues to move on a west-northwest track toward a landfall near the border between Belize and Mexico Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Ernesto’s rain and wind will first begin to arrive during the day on Tuesday.

Some additional strengthening is possible and Ernesto could still become a hurricane prior to moving inland.

Projected Path

Residents of Belize and adjacent portions of Mexico, including Belize City and Chetumal, should be prepared for a hurricane or at least a strong tropical storm.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Mexico vacation spots of Cancun and Cozumel. This area will see some bands of rain and wind through Wednesday, but the worst of Ernesto’s impacts should pass to their south.
